Centering Students Panels
鈥淐entering Students鈥 panels seek to deepen our understanding of the diverse experiences of students at Boston College, particularly those who have historically been underrepresented at 小艾电竞. Student panelists who share a particular experience or who are interested in a particular question are invited to speak to faculty and other instructors about their own experiences of belonging and learning in Boston College classrooms. Organized on an occasional basis in collaboration with student leaders, each panel is followed by audience Q&A.聽聽
We hope you鈥檒l join us for the Centering Students events if you are new to the institution and looking to better understand the campus context or if you have been at 小艾电竞 for a number of years and are looking to update your sense of student experiences. Those who attend will have an opportunity to reflect on barriers that can get in the way of students鈥 learning, identify interventions that can support student belonging and learning, and join in a conversation with students and colleagues about classroom experiences.
Centering Students: Council for Students with Disabilities
Tuesday, April 15, 3:00-5:00; O'Neill 250 (Innovation Lab)
Join the Council for Students with Disabilities (CSD) and the CTE for a panel discussion on the diversity of disabled students鈥 experiences in Boston College classrooms. Those who attend will leave with a richer understanding of the variety of experiences students with disabilities have in their courses and ideas for a few changes they could make to their teaching to make their courses even more accessible.
The conversation will focus on general classroom practices (e.g. welcoming conversation about registered accommodations, drafting classroom policies with the assumption that students with disabilities will enroll, etc.), not on managing the accommodations of particular students. To find support on meeting the needs of an individual student鈥檚 accommodations, please contact the support office with which the student is registered (Connors Family Learning Center for learning disabilities and/or ADHD and Disability Services for all other disabilities).
